Cary Deuber is an East Coast girl, hailing from Connecticut before spending her childhood in Ohio and making her way to Texas. A certified registered nurse’s first assistant, Cary has gone on medical mission trips in third world countries. She lives and works in Dallas with her plastic surgeon husband Dr. Mark Deuber and maintains her own aesthetic injectable practice. She’s also a mom to a baby daughter and step-mom to two kids.

Tiffany Hendra, a veteran actress, host and model, moved back to Texas to be closer to her family. Now she’s reconnecting with best friend LeeAnne Locken and working with philanthropic organizations including Angels of East Africa, a group dedicated to the rescue of orphaned children in need. She’s been married to Australian rocker Aaron for 12 years and Bravo notes she has a “troubling past” from her time in the limelight. Classic Real Housewives.

LeeAnne Locken, a former Miss USA Pageant competitor, has had several parts in TV and movies and now leads efforts for several charitable organizations in Dallas.
Stephanie Hollman hails from Oklahoma. Described as “the girl next door,” Stephanie is the mom to two boys. According to Bravo, for Stephanie to make her own money, her husband, Travis, writes up a list of chores for her to do while he’s away on business.

Brandi Redmond, a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, is a dedicated Texan. She married her high-school sweetheart Bryan and is the full-time mom to two young girls. Her husband is away on business, so Brandi focuses a lot on charity work and spends time with BFF Stephanie.

Marie Reyes, a friend to the Housewives, is also involved in the Dallas charity scene. She’s an RN who owns and operates SkinSpaMED.

Sarah Palin Wants You To Vote For Donald Trump

The former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin praised Donald J. Trump’s experience in the private sector in announcing her support for him

AMES, Iowa — Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor and 2008 vice-presidential nominee who became a Tea Party sensation and a favorite of grass-roots conservatives, endorsed Donald J. Trump in Iowa on Tuesday, providing him with a potentially significant boost just 13 days before the state’s caucuses.

“Are you ready for the leader to make America great again?” Mrs. Palin said with Mr. Trump by her side at a rally at Iowa State University. “Are you ready to stump for Trump? I’m here to support the next president of the United States — Donald Trump.”

Her support is the highest-profile backing for a Republican so far. It came the same day that Iowa’s Republican governor, Terry Branstad, said he hoped that Senator Ted Cruz would be defeated in Iowa. The Feb. 1 caucuses are a must-win for the Texas senator, who is running neck-and-neck with Mr. Trump in state polls.
The endorsement came as Mr. Trump was bearing down in the state, holding multiple campaign events and raising expectations about his performance in the nation’s first nominating contest.
As Mrs. Palin announced her backing, Mr. Trump stood wearing a satisfied smile as she scolded mainstream Republicans as sellouts and praised how Mr. Trump had shaken up the party. “He’s been going rogue left and right,” Mrs. Palin said of Mr. Trump, using one of her signature phrases. “That’s why he’s doing so well. He’s been able to tear the veil off this idea of the system.” Continue reading

‘Affluenza’ teen Ethan Couch and his mother detained in Mexico

Ethan Couch in court during hearing

(CNN)The so-called “affluenza” teen Ethan Couch and his mother, who were being sought by Texas authorities, have been detained in the Pacific resort town town of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Couch’s cell phone use might have led authorities to the pair.

Couch, 18, went missing earlier this month in Texas, where he was under probation for a 2013 drunk driving crash that killed four people and drew nationwide attention over his lawyers’ use of his privileged upbringing as part of their defense at trial.

The U.S. Marshals Service tracked Couch down using electronic surveillance, including tracking a cell phone believed to be linked to him, an official briefed on the investigation told CNN.

The Marshals Service alerted Mexican authorities, who detained Couch and his mother on Monday, the official said.

The two had been staying at a hotel in the Puerto Vallarta area, the source said.

Couch is wanted by authorities in Tarrant County, Texas, for allegedly violating his probation. His mother, Tonya, was listed by Texas authorities as a missing person after her son’s disappearance, and the authorities said they believed she was assisting him.

Educators To Bear Arms In School Premises As Safety Measure

The Argyle Independent School District in north Texas has started the 2014-15 school year, as KDAF-TV noted, “with guns blazing” — or, rather, with newly armed teachers who have been given the right to use them “to protect our students.”

KDAF reported that all teachers who are given a gun must obtain a license to carry it, pass a psychological evaluation and get training in how to use the weapon. Signs like the one below have been posted at all four of the schools in the small district.

gun 1

Argyle is not the only school district that is arming its educators this year. In fact, nearly 20 states have laws allowing adults to carry licensed guns into schools. KCUR radio in Kansas City, Mo., reported that a dozen mostly rural school districts in Missouri have provided weapons and training to teachers this year — even though Gov. Jay Nixon (D) in July vetoed legislation that would have allowed teachers to get special training to possess guns in schools. The legislature may override the veto this month.

Here’s what Nixon said when he vetoed the bill:

“Arming teachers will not make our schools safer. I have supported and will continue to support the use of duly authorized law enforcement officers employed as school resource officers, but I cannot condone putting firearms in the hands of educators who should be focused on teaching our kids.”

Kansas City Star columnist Lewis Diuguid wrote in this piece that anyone seeking to overturn Nixon’s veto should consider what happened recently at Idaho State University. An instructor carrying a concealed gun accidentally shot himself in the foot in the chemistry lab. Students were in attendance at the time but luckily none of them were hit.
I can see how people would be worried and concerned with weapons being physically present in schools. However for this particular case I m willing to take my chances because at least the students stand a chance of having an option as opposed to just being helpless if an invasion ever happened.
New gun laws need to be passed and only mentally capable people need to be able to carry weapons. The issue the government has to deal with now is how exactly to determine who is mentally capable of carrying one.

‘I loved Krissi with all my heart’: Nick Gordon begs Bobby Brown for invite to Bobbi Kristina’s funeral

bobby

This is not a gossip blog but sometimes if something touches my heart, I have to share. I know you all know the story of Bobby Kristina and her struggle to stay alive. I am beyond heartbroken that this poor girl had to leave this earth like this. Her mom Whitney Houston touched so many lives. The poor girl was never the same after her mom passed. But now we are told that her boyfriend/fiancee is begging to attend her funeral. This is according to Daily Mail. I am beyond heartbroken by this outcome. RIP Krissy!
n email to Bobbi Kristina’s father, Gordon says he ‘needs to say goodbye’
He copied in Pat Houston, who is organising funeral in Georgia Saturday
Continues: ‘Krissi loved me very much and she would want me there’
Gordon declared a ‘person of interest’ by police since girlfriend’s death.
Nick Gordon has reportedly begged Bobby Brown for an invite to Bobbi Kristina Brown’s funeral in an emotional e-mail.

Whitney Houston’s daughter died on Sunday after six months in a coma and her boyfriend Gordon has been declared ‘a person of interest’ by police since her death.

He is alleged to have tried to buy drugs for the troubled 22-year-old on the day she was found unresponsive in her bathtub at her home in January.

The Sip & Read That Made Me Cry

WP_20150726_064

On Sunday, July 26th 2015 I hosted a Sip and Read for a few of my friends, family and avid supporters. It was an invite for just 30 exquisite ladies. Two of them were ladies that won the opportunity to attend because of their responses to a post I had made on my blog about Child Marriage In Malawi. Sure enough they were in attendance and I was so honored to meet them.
The idea behind the event was to gather some women together to encourage them to pursue their dreams just as I have and to recognize that all “successful” people started with a dream and a step. The event was full of laughter, food, drinks ( i mean drinks) and plenty of signing and reading.
I read from Chapter 1 in my book “Screw It Go Ahead and Quit Cold Turkey” and from Chapter 3 in “Miss Independent, Misunderstood”. Everyone was so patient and so kind and listened while I read on. There was also the Q&A session which was so fun as some of the questions were unexpected and even got me thinking. I get different questions at different events be it at book signing, radio, tv or on the red carpet. But this time, it was so intimate that I answered so honestly and fearlessly every single question and it felt almost therapeutic. Both books can be purchased wherever books are sold but the easiest would probably be MY WEBSITE or on AMAZON 20% of all purchases go to the Pamela Erere Foundation (PEF), so you would not only be supporting me but also the many women and children in Nigeria who do not have any support otherwise. There were so many pictures but I have attached a few. Did I say I was so overwhelmed with the love and support that I cried? Yes I did. lol

Bill Cosby’s ‘public moralist’ stance backfired, led to document release

bill

Ok, by now you guys have already heard that Bill Cosby is not quite as innocent as he had presented himself. For me, I suspected that he was somewhat not as innocent when scores of women started coming forward. With that being said, I would like to say that anything that is hidden will soon come to light and Mr Cosby should have been more considerate and more humane to these ladies. See what CNN says below;
His admission was kept under wraps for a decade. And Bill Cosby wanted it to stay that way.

But it was his own public stance as a moral evangelist that helped tip the scale for a judge this week. The judge decided to unseal documents revealing Cosby admitted, under oath, to getting drugs to give to women he wanted to have sex with.

For years, Cosby has espoused family values and chastised parts of society for a variety of issues, such as crime.

“The stark contrast between Bill Cosby, the public moralist and Bill Cosby, the subject of serious allegations concerning improper (and perhaps criminal) conduct, is a matter as to which the AP — and by extension the public — has a significant interest,” U.S. District Judge Eduardo Robreno wrote in his decision to release the documents.

The records were unsealed Monday after the Associated Press went to court asking for their release.

Cosby, 77, had fought the release, arguing it would violate his and others’ privacy and would be a source of embarrassment.

The ‘Pound Cake’ speech

The judge cited Cosby’s 2004 “Pound Cake” speech, in which the comedian lambasted some African-Americans for what he considered bad parenting, a lack of personal responsibility and inexplicable crime.
“Looking at the incarcerated, these are not political criminals,” Cosby said. “These are people going around stealing Coca-Cola. People getting shot in the back of the head over a piece of pound cake! Then we all run out and are outraged: ‘The cops shouldn’t have shot him.’ What the hell was he doing with the pound cake in his hand?” Continue reading

Rachel Dolezal has a right to be black

dolezal
My opinion about this transracial issue is one that I am still trying to find. I need to get some more facts before letting you guys know what I really feel about Rachel Dolezal and the issue about her race but until then, Camille Gear Rich does a great job of putting this issue into perspective. Her article as seen on cnn.com is shown below;

When it comes to identity, America takes one step forward and two steps back.

On Monday, Rachel Dolezal, the head of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP, resigned in shame because she had posed as a black woman even though she is biologically white.

The outing of Dolezal seems ironic given the recent public embrace of Caitlyn Jenner, the transgender woman formerly known as Bruce Jenner. Jenner seems to have ushered in an era of greater tolerance about the constructed nature of identity. After all, when a transgender woman is elevated to the cover of Vanity Fair, it’s as though we have reached a tipping point. We can accept the idea that one’s social identity can be radically transformed if it doesn’t match with what one feels in the heart.

The stark difference in Dolezal’s treatment forces us to ask what’s the difference between claiming a gender identity versus a racial identity? Why is it that we celebrate Bruce Jenner’s gender change and frown upon Rachel Dolezal’s racial change?
Dolezal is disturbing for many people because she marks a cultural fault line. Like it or not, we have entered into an era of elective race — a time when people expect that one has a right and dignity to claim the identity of one’s choice.

The central issue that separates Jenner’s and Dolezal’s choices is deception. Jenner chose carefully how and when she would disclose herself as actually female. Dolezal’s involuntary outing was staged by her angry parents who felt left behind as she chose a life associated with being a black person.

The irony of the situation is certainly not lost on Dolezal’s parents, who adopted several black children who became Dolezal’s siblings, perhaps giving her the first taste of what it would be like to be in a black community.

As much as critics try to characterize Dolezal’s behavior as a fraudulent choice, sociologists and psychologists know that decisions about racial and ethnic identity are typically not merely expressive, strategic, or apolitical, but are driven by social conditions.

Growing up in a family with black siblings exposed Dolezal to the reality of discrimination and made her more sensitive to its effects. It probably helped her understand the contrast between the reality of black lives and white privilege. Other similar experiences, such as marrying an African-American and having black children, also make white people more sensitive to racism.

Dolezal likely became politically and socially conscious about these issues because of her experiences in an interracial family. In this sense, her parents must be proud of the child they raised.

Should we indict Dolezal for her racial deceit?

That depends on a number of factors. What accounts for her decision to “become” black instead of remaining white to advocate for racial justice?

Did Dolezal feel that her white skin made her suspect as she engaged in political activism? Did she fear it would be a distraction as she attempted to gain credibility in racial justice efforts?

Opinion: Passing for black? Now that’s a twist

Of course, she could have attained a leadership role in the NAACP as a white woman, but did the perception that she was black make people feel more objective about her performance rather than skeptical about her understanding and commitment to anti-racism?

Was she aesthetically driven? Dolezal claims that she has been in love with black aesthetics since childhood. The decision to adopt a black female aesthetic for herself is a political act given that Americans in general assume black women are not aesthetically as desirable as white women. Yet, others reduce her aesthetic choices to mere cultural appropriation.

People allow Caitlyn Jenner to change because she has some biological basis for believing she is female. But is this all identity is? Are we prepared to accept the implications of this view?

What if Dolezal can identify one “biologically” black ancestor — does this suddenly make her claim to blackness valid? If she cannot, does this failure render invalid her connections to blackness, and all of her efforts to make the world better for African Americans?

In my view, hate the sin but love the sinner. Dolezal lied. She should not have lied, but she lied for reasons with which we can sympathize.

I admire the way she chose to live her life as a black person. Advocating for anti-racism efforts is ethical and admirable if she wanted to claim blackness as a social identity. Those quick to throw stones well know that there are costs to living life as a black person, and once Dolezal made the switch she seems never to have looked back. I will not indict her for her choice to link herself to this community, and I would consider her claim no greater if she identified a long lost African ancestor.

Dolezal’s case forces us to examine our society, which made her feel that passing for a black woman was her best choice in her advocacy for African American issues. She forces us to consider whether our biology or our action is more important to identity, and should we act in ways that honor our chosen identity in meaningful ways. We should not have to be slaves to the biological definition of identity, and we should not use race or gender identities as weapons to punish one another.

Congrats To Nigeria On It’s New Trajectory

This man will steer Nigeria towards a better direction. Or will he?

This man will steer Nigeria towards a better direction. Or will he?

Today is a very emotional day for me and I honestly do not know why. Granted Nigeria has sworn in a new President pictured above. He has had the opportunity of governing the country in the past as a military ruler and today he resumes office as a democratic President. (this was the only part of the process that I resented). However I have been educated that although he was a military ruler, he did not rule with military fists. Whilst that is neither here nor there, I wish I was in Nigeria today. I scheduled to get on a plane on Monday, May 25th to Nigeria but some other events came up and I cancelled. I guess that was meant to happen. I could go on talking about my emotions and what this new presidency means for Nigeria as a country but I shall instead post President Buhari’s inaugural speech. I think it was brilliant.Read full speech below; Continue reading

Nigerian Court Sentences Man to Death for Stealing Mobile Phone & N10,000

man

A Nigerian court located in the South-South part of the country on Monday sentenced a man to death for allegedly stealing a mobile phone and N10,000.That is approximately $40. Oh come on! It’s almost like the more exposed every other part of the world is getting the less exposed my home country Nigeria is. I am sorry to say that but that’s how I feel. First we have the current election situation where citizens are limited to voting for the “less of two evil” options they have, now we have a person possibly dieing for stealing $40. sigh!

According to Guardian, the accused, 24-year-old Vincent Okwekwu along with two other accomplices who are at large, broke into an individual’s flat in November 2009, and robbed them of N10,000 and a mobile phone while armed with a gun and cutlass.

The owners of the flat raised an alarm during the incident and Okwekwu was arrested, but his accomplices escaped.

Okwekwu was convicted for “conspiracy to commit armed robbery, the substantive offence of armed robbery, which was reduced to a lesser offence of robbery.”

He was subsequently sentenced to death by hanging for the offence of conspiracy, and got a 21-year jail term for the other two counts.
